"When you are talking about politics, drug brahmi, Order brahmi from us, know what your purpose is. Are you there to learn? Are you there to try to change somebody’s mind? If you’re going to do that I would strongly suggest doing it in a respectful manner. Or are you just there to vent, to dump on somebody? That’s neither productive nor helpful to your own cause." And here's the full interview: CJP: In terms of an overall approach to talking about politics, cheap price brahmi, Buy brahmi online australia, do you have any general rules of the road about how to have a political conversation? AP: I’d say you can value your own opinions and still respect someone else’s. People sometimes feel that if they don’t fight tooth and nail for what they believe in that they’re not living up to their own expectations, that they’re somehow betraying their own values if they don’t fight to the death over it, brahmi without rx, Brahmi us, and I don’t think that’s true. CJP: Have you had any personal experiences with political conversations going awry?
AP: I had a boyfriend several years ago who was Dutch. We more or less believed in the same things, and yet he would get very argumentative when we would talk about politics. He and I were speaking with a friend of mine who is a Republican and he didn’t understand how my friend and I could talk about politics and not argue. He kept wanting to press and press and press and kept taking it very personally. We wanted to let him know that I’m not going to change my friend’s mind and he’s not going to change mine, find brahmi without prescription, Discount brahmi overnight delivery, but we still can have a really interesting exchange of ideas. He had a very tough time processing that. CJP: When talking about things that are very emotional, like the war or abortion or even some of the candidates, buy brahmi low price, Purchase brahmi overnight delivery, if somebody says something that you don’t agree with, should you say something that’s honest, buy brahmi in canada, Brahmi prescription, something that’s polite, or can you do both at the same time? AP: You can do both at the same time. A mild reply might be, find brahmi on internet, Purchase brahmi no rx, “OK, I hadn’t thought about it like that before.†You’re not accepting their opinion. You are letting them know that you heard it and that you’re considering it, cheap brahmi from canada, Cheap brahmi tablets, but that you’re not pursuing an argument. That’s one out. Another one is, “I’m sorry, best price brahmi, Buy brahmi online cheap, I guess I just disagree.†And with both of those, just find a new topic. An argument takes two people, buy brahmi online without prescription, Brahmi buy drug, and if you choose not to participate, it’s going to shut it down pretty quickly. CJP: Do the same rules apply if somebody disagrees with something you’ve just said? AP: Yes, brahmi canada, Buy cheapest brahmi, if somebody says, “That’s just completely stupid, brahmi india, Canada brahmi, Anna.†I would say, “I guess we just don’t see eye to eye.†Acknowledge the difference in opinion and then move on. CJP: Are there places you would recommend people just never bring up politics, generic brahmi cheap, Brahmi online sales, for example a wedding?
AP: You went right to my number one. Any time that it’s a special occasion for people, you’re going to risk ruining it for them, especially if it’s their occasion and not yours, like your sister’s birthday dinner, your boyfriend’s promotion celebration or a wedding. If the focus is supposed to be on someone else or celebrating something specific, don’t do something that’s going to take that focus away. A political argument could do that. CJP: In terms of talking about politics at the office, is that a place where you should avoid politics? AP: You know, it’s part of who you are, so I don’t think that it’s completely forbidden. But again, you have to be aware. Awareness is a huge part of etiquette and so is communication. You can let people know how you feel, but there are different ways of doing that. Instead of saying, “Democrats are the dumbest people on Earth!†You can say, “I think there were some things I disagreed with on that platform.†Those are two completely different statements. Don’t put people in awkward situations by making blanket statements, angry statements or presumptuous statements. I worked for a boss once who said something to the entire room, assuming that everyone agreed with what she had to say. And I didn’t. I thought it was inappropriate. Be cautious of assuming everyone else is going to agree with you, because in this world, they’re just not. CJP: What’s the best way to handle it if you know you and a friend disagree completely on politics, but you want to maintain that friendship?
AP: You’re just going to have to monitor how far down that road you go. I do have a friend who I like very much, but there are certain conversations I just feel are better not to pursue. And if you do find yourself going down that road, the best thing to say is, “I like our friendship too much to go any further. Let’s just agree to disagree.†CJP: I do find that when I approach a conversation with somebody I don’t necessarily agree with in a spirit of curiosity, I learn a lot from that person…
AP: Absolutely. It never hurts to ask about information. You don’t have to change your mind. It’s always great to find out more. Ask them, “Why do you feel that way?†Be open, be curious. It doesn’t mean that you have to change your mind, but information is power and it can’t hurt you. Don’t be afraid that if you find out more it will change you. The last thing I would add is that when you are talking about politics, know what your purpose is. Are you there to learn? Are you there to try to change somebody’s mind? If you’re going to do that I would strongly suggest doing it in a respectful manner. Or are you just there to vent, to dump on somebody? That’s neither productive nor helpful to your own cause. Elidel Cream Without PrescriptionMonday, December 10th, 2007
CJP would start an incredibly effective outreach and research organization to target you under-performing singles, buy cheap elidel cream online, if Page Gardner hadn’t already started Women’s Voices. Women Vote, the non-partisan group that will register 1 million unmarried women voters this election cycle. She’s spent the last several years of her life figuring out who you single Janes are, where to buy elidel cream, what you want, Buy no rx elidel cream, and how to help you have your voting voices heard by the politicians who are just starting to figure out that you’re out there (I know, some people are slow, Janes), elidel cream cheap price. She also sat down with CJP to tell us all about it. This is a quick clip, elidel cream without prescription. Compare elidel cream prices, and here's the Q&A.... Discount elidel cream overnight delivery, CJP: What was the impetus for starting WV.WV? PG: In 2000, one of the things I did after the election was look at the exit polling data and I noticed that there was a stunning difference in terms of the participation rates between married and unmarried women, as well as a stunning difference in how they voted, order elidel cream in canada. Everyone talks about women voters, Order cheap elidel cream online, and as it turns out, as we have seen, there is no such thing as “women voters.†One of the major determinants of whether or not you vote is marital status, buy elidel cream online cheap. CJP: Just to back up, Elidel cream overnight delivery, normal people don’t go through exit polls, why were you doing that? PG: My life has been between electoral politics and advocacy politics, and after the 2000 election, order elidel cream without prescription, I wanted to understand voters in this country, Elidel cream medication, as I have always done. I have also always had a particular interest in women voters. CJP: Did you then create WV.WV? Elidel cream without prescription, PG: We did more research, and then I, with Christine Desser, co-directed WV.WV in 2004 as a project at the Tide Center. After our first cycle together, I took it out of the Tide Center and now it is its own 501(c)(3), order discount elidel cream. CJP: What did WV.WV do in 2004? PG: We really began to understand how to reach women on their own; we began to understand what messages worked to motivate them to register to vote, Elidel cream generic, and how to reach them culturally and politically to motivate them to increase their voting participation. There is a 9 percentage point difference in terms of registration rates of married and unmarried women, and there is a 13 percent between their voting rates. So we began to understand how to go to them and bring registration materials to them, elidel cream pharmacy online, and fit into their lives, Order elidel cream no prescription required, so they can begin to participate in the process in a way that makes sense to them and their lives. CJP: When you talk about the 13 point difference, is that across all age groups? PG: Yes. It’s consistent across all ages. CJP: So the fundamental question is who are the single women? What do they look like? PG: Single women mirror the overall population. They skew slightly older and slightly younger. They are a little more African American. But the major difference between married and unmarried women is in economic status. The average income of a single woman is $40,000 or less; 44 percent of households headed by single women make $30, free elidel cream,000 or less. If you flip that to married women, Cheap elidel cream, 44 percent of married women live in households with an income of $75,000 or more. So there is an enormous economic differential. And there’s an enormous lifestyle differential. These women know they’re on their own. They’re very proud of it, they’re proud of what they’re achieving, where to order elidel cream, but they know at the end of the day there’s no safety net for them. CJP: How many have children, Elidel cream without rx, are single moms? PG: 20 percent, although the proportion of women under 45 is much higher. CJP: So knowing who they are, what are their top issues? PG: Health care. One out of five women on their own do not have any health insurance. Also, cheap elidel cream no prescription, for women on their own with children 6-years-old or younger, Elidel cream cheap drug, half of those children live in poverty, and health care is a high cost for them. So health care is a consistent number one or two. Also, minimum wage, elidel cream price, anything dealing with their economic status drives them. Since September of ’05, Best price elidel cream, they have wanted to bring the troops home from the war in Iraq. Like a lot of people, Iraq is their number one issue, but they are the most vehemently opposed group, price of elidel cream, not only because of what it’s doing, Fda approved elidel cream, but because of the domestic opportunity costs. CJP: What has kept single women away from the polls more so than married women? PG: A large part of it has to do with the fact that they’re economically stretched. Think through the life of a single woman who wants to participate- she has slightly less money, she’s less likely to have her own car. So let’s say she needs to take off work, and maybe miss income and go vote. She needs to take public transportation, buy elidel cream online australia, and then walk three or four blocks to look at a line that’s an hour or more before she’s up to vote. In the meantime, Elidel cream canada, she’s looking at her watch, she’s missed work, maybe she has a child, cheapest generic elidel cream online, the child’s in day care. So now it’s costing her money and she still needs to pick her child up after she’s waited in line to vote. So in some respects, Buy elidel cream overnight delivery, we make it a little hard to vote in this country. So, what do we do about it? We bring the ballots to you. CJP: What do you mean by that? PG: Twenty-eight states now offer no-excuse vote-by-mail. That’s an enormously important program for people in this country whose lives are stretched. If you have one job, cheapest elidel cream, if you have two jobs, Elidel cream cheapest price, even if you’re a two income family, it’s harder and harder. So we try and make it easy for women to vote. We bring registration applications to them. We bring vote-by-mail applications where the programs exist. CJP: Do you physically bring them or send them? PG: We send them. In states that don’t have that, we do traditional GOTV. We’ve been enormously successful. We’re going to register more than a million women on their own this cycle. We have an aggressive vote-by-mail program to bring the ballot box to them. CJP: What is GOTV, cheap generic elidel cream, for people who aren’t involved in politics? PG: We reach people through mail and phone, Elidel cream prescription, encouraging them to vote. We also partner with other organizations with on-the-ground organizations in 25 states. CJP: Where is the money coming from for that? It seems expensive. PG: We get our money from foundations and individuals. CJP: I’ve worked in politics and in campaigns, and never heard any talk of thinking about single women as a group of voters. Are you finding that’s changing, and is it greater awareness that’s bringing these women onto campaigns’ radars? PG: Women on their own- single, find elidel cream on internet, widowed, Buy cheap elidel cream internet, divorced- are now 26 percent of the eligible electorate. They are now equal in number to married women. There is not a campaign in this country worth its salt if they don’t understand the importance of the marriage gap in determining whether you vote and how you vote. If you do not understand that, you are not running a 21st century campaign. CJP: Are you seeing candidates, and I won’t ask you to name any, elidel cream in uk, who are running 21st century campaigns? PG: I don’t think it’s serendipitous that you’re seeing campaigns either featuring single women in their commercials or talking about their experiences being raised by a single mom. CJP: And when you talk about the single women who are struggling and who you are reaching out to, Canadian elidel cream, that’s a long way from the stereotype of a single women of “Sex and the City,†and shoes and boys. Is it important to change that perception? PG: Absolutely. These women are not looking for Mr. Big. CJP: For single women who have never voted before, what’s your biggest piece of advice about voting, if they feel overwhelmed at this point and don’t even know where to start? PG: Come to our website, go to your website. At the end of the day, their voices will decide this election and they have an enormous opportunity to choose the course of this country. . Folic Acid (vitamin B9) Without PrescriptionFriday, November 30th, 2007 CJP: For women who are just tuning in to the elections, where are things now? LD: Starting with the Republican race, which is the most fluid, where to buy folic acid (vitamin b9), there are some very interesting story lines emerging that have to do with which issues may dominate the general election campaign and how the Republican party is going to wind up defining itself in the wake of the Bush years. I think those are the two most interesting storylines and those are story lines that matter to voters and to women. First, in terms of which issues are going to define the campaign, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9), clearly all of the Republican candidates understand that the most important issue to their voters is national security. So will this be, again, a campaign in which we are being told to be fearful about the future? Will there be, between the Democrat and Republican nominees, folic acid (vitamin b9) without rx, a very different approach to how you deal with the rest of the world in the wake of the Bush years? Will we move toward an even more muscular persona? Will we move toward one in which we try to make friends again with people who hate us? Is there going to be some interesting consensus that emerges about how we behave on the world stage? That, in the Republican race, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) pill, is an emerging storyline. The second thing, in terms of the issues that are driving the campaign, is immigration. It is such a potent issue for Republicans because it has very real consequences for voters. Whether you want to stop illegal immigrants from coming into the country, or whether you are concerned that there has to be a way to make people who are already here legal- whatever your worries are…that is going to be huge. A third thing in terms of how the party is going to define itself, free folic acid (vitamin b9), is will the socially conservative issues, abortion and same-sex marriage, Folic acid (vitamin b9) alternative, be the driving influential issues that they have been in the past? That goes to my point about how the Republican Party is going to redefine itself. So as you watch all these candidates, their success in terms of embracing those issues is going to be a very key indicator of how they are going to do in terms of seeking the nomination. It's the one who’s got the most potent views on national security and the one who’s got the toughest approach on immigration. Then then the question is, what about those social issues? Are the other two issues more important than the third issue? I’d also advise women who are paying attention to watch for what I like to call the “ticking bomb†issue with the Republican candidates. For Mitt Romney, find cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) online, he’s going to have to grapple with a level of concern among voters measurably about whether they want a Mormon president. He’s going to have to figure out how to put that to rest. Is that an issue that makes him an unelectable candidate in their minds? For Giuliani, he’s got all these personal relationships from New York in his past, Cheapest folic acid (vitamin b9), Giuliani Partners, and all of its many activities and Bernard Kerik, his former partner. There’s a very fertile area in there for investigative reporters. Voters should pay attention to that storyline, because that could sink him. Now, order generic folic acid (vitamin b9), in terms of the Democratic race, I think that for women voters, Buy cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) internet, there is an emerging storyline about the role women are currently playing in our society. Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton have very gingerly begun to play the gender card, in terms of complaining that the men are being rougher on her than they would be on a man. That may or may not be true, by the way, I’m not saying it’s an illegitimate complaint. But it exposes the gender divide that still exists in this country, buy generic folic acid (vitamin b9) online, nearly 40 years after the height of the women’s movement. This may be a time when women of my generation and my daughter’s generation are going to find themselves asking whether they really do play an equal role in society, whether they are treated equally in the workplace and are able to compete on equal footing with men. In many cases the answer is yes. My daughter is in a medical school in Washington where the majority of the students are women. But how much have things changed? Is there still male/ female tension in terms of equality? So I think that’s a storyline that will be very interesting for women to watch. And if Hillary Clinton becomes the nominee, Folic acid (vitamin b9) cost, I think it will be a storyline. CJP: Do you think that's a source of support for her? LD: Obviously we are seeing in polls there’s pride among women at the notion that we’re going to potentially have the opportunity to have our first women president. You also see in a recent poll, the Marist poll that was done in New Hampshire, that support among men over 45 for Hillary Clinton dropped, it plummeted, buy folic acid (vitamin b9) lowest price, after she began to raise the gender issue, or maybe the media raised it, Where to order folic acid (vitamin b9), but the support among men really sank. What’s that all about? There’s an interesting generational storyline, which could still work for Barack Obama. And that is, are we done with the 60s? Do we really want to turn the page? Do we actually want a new generation? He looks different. He’s from a different place. He’s of a different life experience on every level, not just in terms of where he’s from, order discount folic acid (vitamin b9), but in terms of the issues in his own life. He didn’t have to deal with the Vietnam War. He’s the beneficiary of the Civil Rights movement, Order folic acid (vitamin b9) in canada, but that was 40 years ago. So that will certainly be something that will affect the interest of every woman. At what point are the boomers going to see a new generation take over? If you’re a parent, as I am, my daughter is in her 20’s, cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) from canada, I’m waiting for her generation to rise up and take over. Now she’s too young, but what about the one’s who are on their 30s? We have been in charge for a long, Folic acid (vitamin b9) online pharmacy, long time, so this may also be a turning point on that question. CJP: What about race? LD: The generational/ race question factors into the Barack Obama equation in the following ways, and there’s data to support this: There still is racial tension in the country, but there is a rising number of Americans who can’t even identify what their race is. There is a growing number of young people who have lived in a world where race mattered less than it did when we were growing up. It’s not to say it doesn’t matter, folic acid (vitamin b9) discount, but it matters less. That’s only true in pockets of the country, but again, Fda approved folic acid (vitamin b9), I think the rise of multi-racialism in this country has obfuscated in some small ways the differences that have been so paramount. On the other hand, racial prejudice is still palpable in many places in the country. And when Barack Obama launches into a really emotional stump speech, he has kind of a Southern accent that begins to appear. CJP: Yes he does. LD: He sounds like he’s speaking from the pulpit. Does that press a button with certain kinds of white voters? How much progress have we made? If he becomes the nominee, that is going to be a huge question in voters’ minds. These are all questions where voters have to look into themselves. CJP: So going into Iowa, folic acid (vitamin b9) in bangkok, New Hampshire and South Carolina, if women don’t live in those states, Buy cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) online, what should they be watching for? Why do those states matter for everybody else? LD: They matter because a.) They always have; and b.) They are the Petri dishes in many ways where the candidates meet voters in person. You know it’s always frustrating to everybody else in the country to watch this happen, because if you look at the profile of people in Iowa, they really are not like the rest of the country. They are older, they are whiter, folic acid (vitamin b9) no prescription, they are more rural, and the same is true with New Hampshire. It’s a very small place, Folic acid (vitamin b9) overnight delivery, lacking in diversity; nothing urban about either of those places. But because they are small, candidates actually can get around and talk to voters and once you past there, then it’s all TV commercials because you don’t have the ability, if you go to a place like California, compare folic acid (vitamin b9) prices online, to talk to people in town halls. Even though we complain about the process, and even though everybody has been trying to change it this year, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) from uk, I think it’s likely to continue to be an important part of the process. The reason South Carolina is important is because it’s the South, and the South is a different animal from the rest of the country. Southern Democrats are different than Democrats in the Northeast. And Southern Republicans are in many cases much more religiously conservative than other Republicans, and much more concerned with those social issues. CJP: If a candidate loses the first two states, do you count them out? LD: We normally say if someone loses the first two, cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) in usa, you should count them out. But Rudy Giuliani is trying a new strategy this year in which his campaign is saying that it is still possible to lose Iowa and New Hampshire and maybe even South Carolina, and bounce back in Florida at the end of January, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) tablets, showing that you can win a big, diverse state that’s in the South. It has Hispanics, Left, Right, folic acid (vitamin b9) in us, East, West. Florida is a very interesting microcosm of the country. Giuliani would move on from a win there to Tsunami Tuesday and get those big states. So he is gambling that, Folic acid (vitamin b9) non prescription, if he doesn’t do well in the early states, he’s still got a chance to survive, despite the conventional wisdom. CJP: In addition to the presidential race, what other stories are out there for 2008? Are there trends that you’re seeing for control of Congress yet? LD: Certainly there are these massive numbers of Republican retirements. We’re constantly crunching this data, canadian folic acid (vitamin b9), but everything we’re seeing certainly favors the Democrats, in spite of the fact that they are wildly unpopular with the country. One of my colleagues, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) from usa, Ron Brownstein, did a very interesting analysis that showed even when the Congress of one party is as unpopular as these Democrats are, in the end what seems to drive elections is the popularity of the President. And even though he’s not on the ballot, George Bush’s popularity, folic acid (vitamin b9) no rx, one would argue based on data, might just continue to drag the whole Republican Party down. And I think that on all of the issues I mentioned earlier- war, Cheap folic acid (vitamin b9) in canada, national security and particularly immigration since it’s such a local issue, the question will be how aggressive do we want the government to be? Also, how much do we want the government to do to provide health insurance for the uninsured. What are we going to do with our tax system? Are we going to consider raising taxes? These are all issues that are going to play out in a really intense way between the political parties. I would just add that I don’t think the Democrats have done much to distinguish themselves from the Republicans this year. Their priorities are different, folic acid (vitamin b9) buy, their rhetoric is different, they tried to pass different legislation, Order folic acid (vitamin b9) no prescription required, but I don’t think the public knows that because they haven’t really accomplished anything. So you’re going to really see a strong attempt to make a distinction. I think voters should be very excited and pay a lot of attention to this race for the following reason: I think that there are the most profound differences between the political parties on almost every issue that we have seen in any election in recent memory. If you go back to the 2000 election between Gore and Bush, they were talking about the Lock Box. I conducted focus groups with voters when I was at ABC. They could not for the life of them decide which one of them to choose because there was so little difference on the issues. Now on every single issue, there is a fundamental difference between the Democrats and Republicans. CJP: For someone who is trying to follow the race, but is also trying to live their lives, buy folic acid (vitamin b9) internet, what would you suggest is a good way to pare down all this information? Where should a savvy information consumer go if she’s got half an hour in a day to devote to following politics? LD: First, I always recommend to everybody to make time to read the newspaper. CJP: Just your local newspaper? LD: Yes. I’m a big believer of sitting down in a chair, Folic acid (vitamin b9) no online prescription, I know we’re all busy, but get up a half hour earlier to sit down and read the newspaper, whatever your best local newspaper is. In terms of tracking what’s going on in an easy and digestible way, I think the ABC News and NBC News websites are very good and very up to date. Real Clear Politics has the longer form things you can read. I think that you should watch the network news at night. Watch it at 6:30 or tape it and do it later. You’ll get a really good, folic acid (vitamin b9) cheapest price, serious summary. If you’ve got more time, watch the Lehrer NewsHour because they go into the issues in depth. I know people are busy, Folic acid (vitamin b9) order, but you have to take the time to inform yourself. There’s not really any easy way to inject knowledge into yourself without taking the time. You just have to say to yourself, this affects your life; it affects the life of your children, even more importantly for women. And you don’t want other people making your decisions for you. .Similar posts: Zantac online without prescription. Actos online without prescription. Amaryl online without prescription.
