We all know that House Speaker John Boehner has a thing for tears when he gets emotional– he doesn’t have to cut the ribbon at a KinderCare before the waterworks start flowing.
But former House Speaker Newt Gingrich stunned us all when he got very emotional talking about his mother this morning at Java Joe’s in Des Moines, Iowa. “I identify my mother with being happy, loving life, and havng a sense of joy in her friends,” he said. But he also talked about her struggles with bi-polar disorder and depression, the reason he says he works on health care reforms.
“It comes from dealing with the real problems of real people in my family– it is in fact, my mother.”
