Monday Morning JaneBy CJP | March 23, 2009
Top Domestic Story: Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner unveils his plan today to help us help the banks help themselves help us, which is easier read than done. The centerpiece of the plan involves the feds lending money to hedge funds to buy toxic assets from bleeding banks. Once healthy, the banks should start lending money to people and businesses like they did in the olden days. [Washington Times] Top International Story: The president of Turkey is on a visit to Iraq over the weekend, a first for a Turkish leader in more than 30 years.  The move comes in anticipation of the withdrawal of American troops, which could happen using the Turkish border. [BBC] How are Snackwells and energy-saving appliances alike? Marketers say people feel so virtuous using them that they consume more in the long run. No more binging on Energy star washers, ladies. [USA Today] Even though Congress wants to turn back the clock to tax Wall Street bonuses from last year, President Obama says not so fast. In an interview on “60 Minutes,” Obama said, “as a general proposition, I think you certainly don’t want to use the tax code…to punish people.” [Wall Street Journal] The Lauren Conrad line is kaput, for now. In a statement, her rep said the line is being revamped due to the “economic climate,” promising the next iteration will include “high-end fabric.” Genius, L.C., genius. [Page Six] |

Dear MS. Jane
My name is Ian Markey and I am running in the 2010 election against Arlen Specter and Pat Toomey
should he run as well. I think America is ready for someone new, and I have a lot to offer. I am a conservative Republican here in PA, and I am
having problems getting Fox News to acknowledge
my campaign, they claim to be fair and balanced.
I am not a rich powerful politician, but I should
be given the same coverage as anyone else who runs
for office.
