CPAC: See Conservatives Plan a Comeback

    By CJP | February 26, 2009

For most people, February in Washington means frozen rivers, gray skies and a countdown to the day you can pack away the full-length puffer.  But for the serious conservative, it’s time for the right-of-center confab, CPAC.

This annual gathering, which starts today, is where grassroots Republicans usually go to get their marching orders for the year.  But after four years of ugly elections, attendees will quickly notice there’s not exactly a general anymore.  There are, however, plenty of people who want the job and CPAC is where the interview process starts.

On the agenda this year are Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Mark Sanford and other 2012 hopefuls.  Also speaking will be Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, John Boehner, and every other conservative you can think of.  Conspicuously absent:  Sarah Palin.  Although she was expected to come, politics at home seem to be trumping politics in Washington, so Gov. Palin is sticking to her day job for now.

CJP is heading to CPAC now, but the good news, Janes, is that you can watch all three days of the action from the comfort of your cube or study carrel.  Townhall.com is streaming the whole thing live, complete with Twitter enabled commenting, HERE.  Newt, Mitt, Huck and Rush are just a click away…
