We digress: New IRS Form “BS-2009″

To illustrate the taxing P.R. problems that the Obama administration has right now, we offer this email, which is making the rounds among staff on Capitol Hill:

Dear Taxpayer:

President Barack H. Obama is pleased to announce this important part of his economic stimulus program.  In order to get maximum impact, it is being sent out in chain emails.  Please forward this form to everyone you know to help our economy come back quickly.

Form BS-2009 is simple and easy to use.

If you meet the few simple qualifications describe below in plain English, you can save hundreds of thousands of dollars of federal taxes right away.  Better yet, you need never pay these taxes unless and until you are nominated to be a cabinet official.

Use this form IF AND ONLY IF you check one of the following simple qualifications:

1. _____ I am a United States Senator OR a former United States Senator and my distinguished colleagues really like me.  (Daschle Exemption Rule 1)

2. _____ I easily forget hundreds of thousands of dollars of consulting income, and income-in-kind like chauferred limousines. (Daschle Exemption Rule 2)

3. _____ I am a member of the 2008-2009 World Economic Crisis Genius Bar and Turbo Tax really confuses me (heh-heh).  (Geithner Exemption Rule)

4. _____ President Obama really, really, really likes me and wants me to be appointed to high office because of my “record of long and distinguished service.”  I know his private Blackberry email address.  (New Era of Ethics Reform Exemption Rule)

If AND ONLY IF you checked one or more of the above boxes, DEDUCT THE GREATER OF $148,000 OR YOUR TOTAL FEDERAL INCOME TAX DUE.

WARNING:  You MUST file an amended return and pay the amount deducted IF AND ONLY IF YOU ARE NOMINATED TO FEDERAL OFFICE AS A MEMBER OF THE PRESIDENT’S CABINET.
