Buy lasix without prescription, President Barack Obama signed his first bill into law this morning, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Just to jog your memories:

The bill is named after Lilly Ledbetter (at left with Obama), a former Goodyear employee who sued the company after she learned she had been paid less than men at the plant who had the same job.

It applies to **all forms** of discrimination, including discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion or national origin;

Ledbetter won her suit against Goodyear in an Alabama court, but the Supreme Court struck down the decision, saying that the law required Ledbetter to sue Goodyear within six months of her first paycheck. Since Ledbetter worked at Goodyear for more than 20 years, and did not find out about other salaries until she’d been there for nearly two decades, she contended she could not have sued Goodyear any sooner.

The bill says the statute of limitations applies to every paycheck or instance of discrimination, rather than just the first.

Republicans objecting to the bill said it would encourage frivolous lawsuits and be a boon to trial lawyers.

At the signing ceremony in the White House, Obama said, "Equal pay is by no means just a women’s issue – it’s a family issue. It’s about parents who find themselves with less money for tuition or child care; couples who wind up with less to retire on; households where, when one breadwinner is paid less than she deserves, that’s the difference between affording the mortgage – or not; between keeping the heat on, or paying the doctor’s bills – or not. And in this economy, when so many folks are already working harder for less and struggling to get by, the last thing they can afford is losing part of each month’s paycheck to simple discrimination.". This is long overdue, but I’m not sure it’s going to make much of a difference. As a society we need to start raising our daughters to ASK for what they want rather than politely waiting for someone to notice them.
