Caroline Out, Carolyn In?By CJP | January 22, 2009 We just told you about Kirsten Gillibrand, a second-term Congresswoman whose name we’ve consistently heard as a possible successor to Hillary Clinton. Another name you’ll certainly hear is that of Carolyn Maloney, a former teacher, New York City Council member and now Congresswoman from Manhattan and Queens. Maloney has not only served in the House since 1992, but is also a close personal friend of Hillary Clinton’s. CJP had a chance to interview Maloney this summer about her book, “Rumors of our Progress Have been Greatly Exaggerated.” We asked her about her first run for office, whether the Equal Rights Amendment is really important anymore, and whether she thinks 2008 was a step forward for women or a step back… |
