Do you remember when we told you right before the elections about ballot measures, propositions and other items of interest and great import waiting for you in the ballot booth?  Did you ever wonder what happened with all of them? Â
So did we. Â But THANKFULLY we didn’t have to do much more than that, since our friends at Stateline.org follow that stuff like it’s their job, probably because it is their job. Â Anyhoo, here are the highlights of the 2008 Leave-it-to-the-People propositions:
- Three states- California, Florida and Arizona- banned same-sex marriage, bringing to 30 the number of states that have constitutional prohibitions on gay marriage.Â
- Colorado and South Dakota voters rejected sweeping bans on abortion that would have gone to the Supreme Court to test Roe v. Wade. Â A parental notification requirement failed in California.
- Washington State approved doctor-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients. Â Oregon is the only other state that allows it.Â
- Nebraska banned affirmative action;Â
- Maryland legalized slot machines;Â
- Michigan lifted the ban on stem-cell research; andÂ
- Massachusetts voters opted against another Boston Tea Party and chose to keep their income tax.
Those are the big ones, but Stateline.org has compiled all 153 ballot measures and their fates HERE. Â

Arizona, not South Dakota, banned same-sex marriage. SD did reject the abortion measure, however.
