    Friday Morning Jane

    By CJP | October 17, 2008

Good morning, Janes!  We've got a scant 19 days left until you pick the next leader of the free world, if you haven't already.  You'll also be picking your House and Senate, as well as some governors thrown in for good measure.

Who's going to win?  We have no idea.  Who's going to get you ready to decide?  We are!  Where does the first day of the next 19 days of your life start?  Right here, with your Morning Jane...

    Top Domestic Story:  Campaign 2008

    • Barack Obama lands the endorsement of "The Washington Post" this morning.  They write that we have "two unusually talented and qualified presidential candidates," but add, "Mr. Obama's temperament is unlike anything we've seen on the national stage in many years. He is deliberate but not indecisive; eloquent but a master of substance and detail; preternaturally confident but eager to hear opposing points of view."
    • Earlier in the fall, McCain got the New York Post's nod, "McCain's lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin résumé of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama."
    • The CJP poll asked who lost the debate this week, and we may be changing our own vote to say Joe the Plumber.  He is currently the TOP STORY on the BBC, where they reveal Joe doesn't have a license to plumb, and he owes $1,200 in back taxes.  [BBC]

Other Top Domestic Story: The Economy

    • We'll forgive stock traders on Wall Street if they had motion sickness yesterday.  After 75 ups and downs, the Dow closed 400 points higher.
    • Warren Buffet's buying American.  He says he's putting only U.S. stocks in his personal portfolio, and gives his best stock picking advice, "Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful."  [New York Times]

Top International Story:  The U.S. is flying illegal immigrants back to their home countries on chartered jets as a part of increased deportations.  "When the plane touched down in Guatemala, many passengers applauded. Exiting the airplane, some made the sign of the cross or kissed the ground." [Wall Street Journal]

A Jane overseas alerts CJP to this breaking and disturbing global news:   "Forget about managing declining investments and voter registration, Janes need to be prepared for the tragic tartan comeback."  [The Guardian]

**TiVo Alerts:  Sarah Palin will be on Saturday Night Live on Saturday- sweet lord, we can't wait.  Also, Colin Powell heads to "Meet the Press" on Sunday morning, where we'd expect a presidential endorsement.

A nice looking blog Citizen Jane! White on black a nice refreshing change, in fact I think I need to go and change mine now. I see the theme is called ‘citizen’ so I’m guessing it’s custom made, but maybe I will find something similar to replace my grey on grey.
I came here to read about Warren Buffet by the way, not compliment you on your blog, but my mind kind of got sidetracked !

Hey thanks! It is custom, but not too fancy, so feel free to use as inspiration…
