Every time we do a Sunday Show Scorecard, we get emails from women who say that the gender breakdown on these shows just doesn't matter. But we beg to differ.  Women make up the majority of voters, but the conversations this Sunday morning were framed around football (Tom Brokaw, we're looking at you), stats and mano-a-mano sniping. We don't need wall-to-wall girl time or shoe shopping analogies, but we'd love more focus on how the election will affect real people's lives, especially the people who drive the carpools, buy the groceries, pay the household bills, etc.  You see where we're going.
So, for Sunday, September 28th:
- The Chris Matthews Show: With David Brooks, Andrea Mitchell, Eugene Robinson,; and Katty Kay, we give Chris Matthews two Janes for his guest list, and a bonus Jane for consistently getting taken to the woodshed for being sexist, but also being the only man in D.C. whose Sunday show looks even a little like the electorate.
Second Place:
- Meet the Press: Tom Brokaw interviewed Bill Clinton, and moderated debates between David Axelrod and Steve Schmidt, and later Colorado Senate candidates Mark Udall (D) and Bob Schaffer (R). Really MTP? No women, no Janes, and (a coincidence?) no mention of issues like health care, education, the price of gas, the price of food...you get the drift.
- Face the Nation: Bob Schieffer, our Sunday boyfriend, only has 1/2 hour to fill, and chose to fill the whole thing with Barack Obama. We get that, but how about five minutes of reaction on how Obama plays with the majority of voters, a.k.a. women?
- This Week: ABC hosted John McCain, and held a roundtable with Newt Gingrich, The Washington Post's Steve Pearlstein, Robert Reich, and George Will.  ABC, where was our girl, Cokie? It's like you're not even trying. No Cokie, no Janes.
