I think that ex-Speaker Gingrich is correct, but perhaps did not go far enough. For example, the nomination of Governor Palin may spur a discussion of the definition of feminism. After reading Ramesh Ponnuru today in National Review’s Corner Blog, I have to wonder if women view feminism more as a general empowerment of women as individuals or more as a political party with, perhaps, a defined platform. Should, for example, the breaking of glass ceilings by Justice O’Conner be celebrated or is it more about specific ideologies, such as liberalism, or issues, such as abortion? Those two concepts may come to a head in the case of Governor Palin, and perhaps as discussed today by Dennis Miller and Jonah Goldberg.
In any case, Governor Palin represents, at the minimum, a historic step for the Republican party and an alternative for voters to consider. If successful, the Governor may even provide a role model for young women as potential entrants into the political process.

Patricia Murphy:
I think you and Sara Palin possess the character of the American Women who created our Nation.
You and Sarah Palin are leaders who have the ability to inspire and motivate others to accomplish the mission, goals, and objectives, and possess the leadership values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
I am extremely honored to have Sarah Palin lead this Country, and I give her my full support.
“The Sentiments of an AMERICAN WOMAN,” [Philadelphia: John Dunlap, 1780], http://www.indiana.edu/~kdhist/H105-documents-web/week07/Sentiments1780.html, published during the American Revolutionary War, The American War of Independence, is an example of the character of the American Women who created our Nation.
Thank you for your leadership and support, and protecting our Country.
Sincerely,
Joe

Team Sarah Launches Dialogues — Listen and Pass on to Your Friends
Can you believe we only have 22 days left before this election? I want to invite you to join an exciting movement that I am part of—Team Sarah. We are a diverse coalition of women dedicated to advancing Governor Palin’s vice-presidential candidacy and mobilizing the grassroots for the McCain/Palin ticket. We’re sending real women out in the public square to discuss and advance her historic candidacy.
We also have a website, http://www.teamsarah.org , which connects, informs, and inspires Palin supporters from across the country. Already we have thousands signed up, and that is only from word-of-mouth!
I hope you will go there right now and join Team Sarah. And then invite your own contacts!
We have just launched a unique series of dialogues between Lisa and Kelly, the conversations represent the real concerns of two undecided women voters. The first two spots can be heard on the homepage of http://www.teamsarah.org . We plan to release more spots in the coming days, so please send me your feedback and ideas.
