Good morning, Janes! When Memorial Day dawned, we thought about heading to Nantucket for a summer of clam bakes and white sandy beaches. Instead, we've chosen to stay in Washington to work on a prototype for an air conditioning vent in cars that blows cold air on our heads from the ceiling. That, AND telling everything you need to know today about the men trying to be the leaders of the free world. Here's your Morning Jane...

- The L.A. Times says some of the left-over Republican hostility toward Hillary Clinton may now be trained on Michelle Obama, with Michelle Malkin calling her Obama's "bitter half," and local GOP chapters running ads with her featured. But Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster, comes to Mrs. Obama's defense. "It's exactly why I hate politics."
- USA Today has five tips for picking a V.P., a choice that Jimmy Carter's V.P., Walter Mondale, said is risky, "because if you make a mistake, a serious mistake. It's like a bad marriage. Only you can't get a divorce." Geeze. The tips are: 1. A dream may not be a dream; 2. Do no harm; 3. Mind the gap; 4. Agree on the duties; and most importantly: 5. "It's not a buddy movie."

We don't need you here anymore.'" [Washington Post]
Nepal no longer has a monarchy. The King of Nepal spent his last night in the royal family's palace last night, and is scheduled to leave today for a temporary residence outside of Kathmandu. The new Maoist legislature voted to abolish the monarchy last month, ending the reign of the Shah dynasty, in power since the 1760s. [BBC]
If you're looking for after-work plans, this may or may not apply to you: bi-monthly NYC mixers for men in finance and women in fashion. Says the invitation: "Women in fashion need men who can facilitate their pre-30 marriage/retirement plan...And men in finance need women who will allow them to leverage their career in their dating equity." Stay classy, Manhattan. [NY Post]
