The CJP Mail Bag

One of the best parts of running a website is getting emails from people we don’t know, who are not part of a Nigerian bank scheme. We get great ones, weird ones, smart ones, and a few we just don’t understand. But it just feels selfish to keep them to ourselves, so today we’re emptying out the CJP Mail Bag to share the best.

• “I just had to write and thank you for such a thoughtful, smart, informative web site. I appreciate the non-partisan coverage, smart writing,quirky comments, and in-a-nutshell updates about what’s happening everyday. This has become a fixture in my mornings along with my cuppatea. - Janet” Thanks for that, Janet!
• “It’s killing me, whoever wrote the train wreck–super delegate piece misspelled principal as principle. I’m not trying to be an ass, just pointing it out. - John” This was helpful, and we fixed it immediately, but did we mention that John works for the “Wall Street Journal”? Humiliating.
• Sometimes the CJP editor goes on TV to spread the word about the Janes. We recently got this Valentine in our inbox after an appearance: “We were concerned about your cosmetic surgery and possible use of botox.” Janes, since we’re not exactly teen-agers, is it wrong to be kind of flattered that someone suspects professional help? For the record, we keep it real.
• We also get emails from Janes about the candidates and what’s happening on the trail:
  • “Not all women like Clinton! My belief is that many of the women don’t have a mind of their own, they’ve been ruled with an iron thumb by their husbands and Clinton represents some kind of women’s freedom to them. I, for one of many, am a woman for McCain!”
  • “I’m also a grandmother of 6. I don’t want Obama in the White House. He is not experienced enough. We still don’t know enough about him.” CL, Tucson
  • “My personal favorite: Obama: 100%. Poll sample: 1. Margin of error 99.9%. -TX”

   In today’s Jane, i noticed that at the bottom you noted that Michelle Obama is going to be on the View. I respect that you provide that information, as I have Tevo’d it!

   However, yesterday Cindy McCain was co-host of the View and it did not appear on your website.

   I just recently started viewing your website daily and since then, I have noticed that typically your site has been fair and equal. It would be appreciated if you keep that up, especially as the election nears.

   Thank you for your informative website.

   Hey Emily!

   I think yesterday was a re-run of Cindy McCain’s appearance, but we definitely let the Janes know about it when it happened, because we’re totally obsessed with both of them!
