“Eyes & Ears” Report from TX Jane, WITH Fascinating Prediction

texas-boots.jpg   As you know, the country is crawling with Janes and lucky for us, Texas is no exception. One of our favorite Janes (who really knows her stuff) writes in from Dallas, complete with this somewhat shocking prediction: Hillary Clinton wins Texas because cross-over Republicans are hand-selecting their November competition with a vote against Obama. If that's true, just remember you heard it here first. If it's not, we've never even met you:-). Here's the full scoop from our Lone Star Jane: "Here in Dallas, the Dem vote is split. Obama gained a lot of momentum when he drew large crowds at a rally downtown two weeks ago, and Clinton held a few less significant rallies -- one of which was overshadowed by the tragic death of motorcycle cop who was escorting her. The state is still overwhelmingly Republican, but Clinton and Obama have a good number of Reps swinging to their side after becoming disillusioned with the party. "Many Texas Democrats are leaning toward Obama because he represents change (and some of us in this red state are ready for a little blue), but those who backed Clinton in the beginning continue to do so. The most interesting thing about this primary is that many Republicans are planning to vote in the Democratic primary because they think a vote for Clinton could make it that much easier for McCain to win. "For the first time in a long time, Texans feel like their votes matter, and the new-found responsibility has brought a lot of change. There are Obama and Clinton yard signs popping up in unlikely places, including the wealthy Dallas enclave of Highland Park, but you have to consider that there is still a strong segment of the population that sees Huckabee as a viable candidate. If you think the rest of the country is split, you should see Texas. It's like we have multiple personality disorder. "I'm predicting that Clinton will win in Texas, largely because of the Republican voters who want to see McCain in office."
