The March issue of "Vogue" includes a lengthy profile of one of our favorite Janes, Gwen Ifill, written by one of our other favorite Janes, Julia Reed. We can't link to the article online, but we can give you this quote, which sums up the strengths of both women:
"In a city where everyone is trying to prove themselves the smartest person in the room- or indeed in the political universe- Ifill is a breathtaking anomaly, a quietly confident seasoned reporter who covered Congress and presidential politics for "The Washington Post," "The New York Times," and NBC News before joining PBS nine years ago as host of "Washington Week" and senior correspondent on "The Newshour with Jim Lehrer.""
Of Ifill and "Washington Week," Reed writes, "She has reinvigorated the roundtable with new, younger faces and deftly keeps the conversation lively without violating her cardinal rule of no predictions. "If my guests make them, they don't come back," she tells me, adding that most of them find this proviso a great relief."
If you do nothing else while you get your next pedicure, read this profile of the woman who gets three times the ratings of Chris Matthews and who one Washington insider says is so tough she "can change the weather."
