Janes, tomorrow is go time for nearly half the country, but what could be worse than getting the polls to pick the man or woman of your dreams only to be turned away? Let's answer your essential questions now so that you're ready tomorrow:
WHO: Who are you and can you prove it?
- Take a photo i.d. with you. Several states have new laws on the books this year requiring one of several forms of identification, many of which are photo i.d.s.
WHAT: Open or Closed primary?
- Know the difference between an open and a closed primary by clicking HERE for your CJP explainer, and know how which one your state has by clicking on your state at the CJP "Ready to Vote" page.
WHERE: Do you know where your polling station is?
- Check through your elections office through the CJP "Ready to Vote" page. We also give you a phone number for each office if their web site doesn't help you.
WHEN: Can you vote tomorrow?
- If you are told by poll workers that you are not registered, but you believe that you are, any voter may request a "provisional ballot." You will vote at the poll and your elections officials will confirm your registration once your ballot is sent in. Go to the National Association of Secretaries of State to confirm your registration before tomorrow.
WHY: Why do these people deserve your love?
- Look no further than the CJP "Candidate Compare" page to see where the candidates stand on the issues that matter to you.
Happy voting, Janes!
