Janes, sometimes providence smiles upon you, and sometimes providence sits down right next to you and buys you a drink. Such was the case in Salem, New Hampshire last night when we spoke with Matt Lauer, former Providence, R.I. cub reporter and and now king of morning television on NBC’s “Today” show.

Who else could tell all of you what THE story is going into today’s New Hampshire primaries than the guy telling America about it at 7 a.m. every day?
