    By CJP | December 27, 2007

us-map.jpg  Good morning, Janes! Until the South Carolina primaries, CJP will be on the road in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and lots of states in between, to bring you the latest from the campaign trail. We’ll be talking to candidates, campaign staffers, reporters, volunteers, and most importantly, women like you, to bring you the information you need to start making some of these decisions. Feel free to send questions, tips, observations and ideas our way, and in the meantime, get ready to be the smartest spectator in the CJP Campaign 2008 sky-box. Here’s your Morning Jane…..

Top International Story: A 12-year-old American girl has been rescued in the jungles of Panama, where she was the sole survivor of a plane crash on Sunday. She had been traveling with a friend and her friend’s father, a California hedge fund manager and founder of a company that eventually became Yahoo! Groups. Rescuers had been looking for the plane for more than two days and had to care for her in a make-shift hut until weather allowed them to make the three-hour trek to safety. [Times UK]

Top Domestic Story: The 2008 Campaign

    It’s all about Iowa:

    • Mike Huckabee compared his late-in-the-game finish to a good day of buck shooting. “If you just stay out here, keep your gun ready, it might turn out OK.” [Des Moines Register]
    • Barack Obama lamented the last seven years. “We’ve got a president who brags about ‘I was a C student, look at me. I got to be president and I can’t pronounce stupider.’ That’s not the message we want for the White House.” [DesMoinesRegister.com]
    • Hillary Clinton scared us. “You never know what may happen in some part of the world that will create a real challenge to us here at home, here in Iowa.” [Washington Post]

The EEOC has ruled that companies can cut health benefits of retirees over 65 without running afoul of age discrimination laws. The court said employers need the flexibility, but they recognized “with some dismay” that some people over 65 may be adversely affected. [NYT]

Fergie, the Ferga-licious, lumpy Black-Eyed Pea, and Josh Duhamel, that guy from the show in Las Vegas, are engaged. [People]

How is Iowa? Is it as cold as it looks? Is it hard to see the candidates? Who have you seen?
