Mike Huckabee Speaks to CJPBy CJP | November 28, 2007
Huckabee first delivered the sermon to a 700-plus crowd at the Baptist church in Fountain Inn, a town of 6,000 about 15 miles east of Greenville, South Carolina . As a former minister, it was clear to see where he honed his easy demeanor for the stump. Huckabee then went to an open-house at the home of a Republican State Senator. CJP caught up with Huckabee at a press conference just before the reception and asked him why women should vote for him. He was very personable and gave an answer worth watching. His blond bodyguard was less delightful, but I’m sure she’d had a long day. See video below, which we shot in the cinema verite tradition. (Note to self- hire cameraman.) |

Mike Huckabee says we shouldn’t focus on what Presidential candidates say they will do, but what they have actually done. He was talking about appointing women to office, but I wonder what that means we should think of the “no tax” pledge he signed earlier in the campaign…Bob Novak says he was a “compulsive tax-and-spender” in Arkansas, and there is some real evidence to support that claim.

I would have loved to have been there to hear him preach, this is a candidate that has me fascinated right now. I’m watching him closely…love his bold stands on what he believes, and the fact that he’s not afraid to share his faith. We’ll see how it plays out. Keep it up CJP!
