It’s a lot for girl to bear. But since you’re already up, go ahead and get some coffee, resolve to make a difference in somebody’s life, and get ready to be the smartest kid in class… Top International Story: Political turmoil continues in Pakistan as the president promises to step down from the army he leads, and a formerly exiled rival promises to boot the president from power entirely. [BBC] Top Domestic Story: Senator Trent Lott, #2 in the Senate Republican leadership, will retire from Congress later this year. Lott leaves four years before the end of his current term and becomes the sixth Senate Republican to announce he’ll retire this year. [Biloxi Sun Herald] Seven years after his chads were left hanging, Al Gore makes it to the White House. [Atlanta Journal-Constitution] Not wasting any time, Julia Gillard, the Go-Girl Aussie who became Australia’s first woman Deputy Prime Minister on Saturday, will take over as Prime Minister next week. Not to worry though, she’s assured the country, “I’ll be very careful while I do it.
